5 main types of sushi.
What is the difference between sushi, sashimi and nigiri?
Sashimi is simply meat served without any other ingredients. In sushi, on the contrary, rice and other ingredients (for example, vegetables) are used, which are wrapped in a leaf or nori (seaweed) and cut into pieces.
Sushi can appear as maki (meaning roll), where seaweed is on the outside, uramaki-where seaweed is on the inside and rice is on the outside, or temaki-cone-shaped sushi, rolled by hand.
Nigiri is a dish somewhere in between. Nigiri is a sashimi served on a molded rectangle of rice.
Although most sashimi are raw fish, some sashimi are not raw, and some sashimi are not fish at all. For example, unagi is a cooked freshwater eel. Sashimi also includes other types of seafood, which you will get acquainted with below.
Popular types of sashimi.
Sashimi is related to sushi roughly like minced meat and cutlets. Any sashimi meat can be turned into sushi or a roll. Any chef can be creative and create signature sushi rolls by combining several types of meat and vegetables. However, there are a few signature sushi and rolls that can be found in most restaurants. They will be discussed below.

Popular types of rolls.
Spicy tuna roll (スパイシーロール)
In regular tuna rolls, you can usually see a layer of raw tuna in a dark pink color. However, the spicy tuna rolls look a little different. The tuna in them is cut into cubes or crushed and mixed with hot pepper. Depending on the performance and imagination of the chef, the tuna filling can be located both outside the roll and inside.
Tempura Roll (天 天ローールルルルルル))
Tempura is a Japanese style of roasting that uses a thin dough. First, the chef prepares sashimi rolls, then covers them with tempura dough and deep-fried them.
Unagi Roll (うななローーールルルル)
Unagi is a sea eel. This roll usually uses a toasted piece of unagi topped with oyster sauce, teriyaki sauce, or any other sweet-and-salty glaze. In Russian sushi bars, you can often find a variety of this roll with salmon and Philadelphia inside.
Roll “California” (カリフフルルルルアアアールルルルルルルルルルル)
The California roll includes crab, tuna, and avocado. Sometimes a piece of tuna is also used as a decoration on top.
Inari (稲荷寿司)
Inari is bread and rice sushi. Thin and sweet bread is used as a form and can sometimes be filled with vegetables such as carrots or cucumbers.
“Rainbow” Roll (虹のロール)
The Rainbow roll is essentially a California roll (avocado and crab), the top of which is decorated with different types of sashimi.
Samurai eat sushi with their hands and drink lightly warmed sake. Then they go out on the balcony with a guitar and sing Vysotsky’s songs. And this is only a small part of our experience in promoting food deliveries .
Roll Dragon (ドラゴンロール)
The preparation of the “Dragon” roll has many variations, as each chef tries to creatively approach its appearance, making it look like a dragon. Most often, eel and cucumber are used to create it. Also, sometimes you can see thinly sliced avocado on top.
Roll “Philadelphia” ( フ フララル ,フフア ,フアア ,ーアーー ,ーーーーーーーールルル) )
The most popular type of rolls , which you can easily find in every Japanese menu around the world. There are different variations, but all of them somehow contain salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. Sometimes the company uses avocado instead of cucumber and adds onions and sesame seeds. The roll got its name not because of the name of the American state, but thanks to the cream cheese of the same name.
Temaki with crab ( カニの手手 )
This is an example of a cone-shaped roll called a temaki. Authentic crab temaki uses only real, veined crab meat.
Spider Roll (???????????) )
Spider roll consists of tempura crab with a thin dough shell, as well as cucumber, avocado and spicy mayonnaise. In some versions, the roll appears to visitors in the form of a spider with spider legs sticking out of the sides.
Vegetable Roll (野菜ローールルルルルルル)
There is something in Japanese restaurants for those who do not eat fish. Many places offer a vegetable roll on the menu — and it, oddly enough, contains only vegetables — such as cucumber or avocado, for example. In Russian restaurants, it is easy to recognize it by the dill decor on the outside.
“Vulkan” Roll (火山ロローーーーールル)
The composition of the volcanic roll may vary from restaurant to restaurant, but one thing is invariable — topping on top, simulating the explosion of the roll.
